The Future of Wearable Health Technology

Wearable health technology serves the purpose of collecting data from a person’s daily health and exercise. Some people are given wearable devices for a short period of time so a healthcare professional can take notes of their activity in real-time. Wearable health technology is on the rise so expect to see plenty of people hitting the streets with a tech piece on them at all times. Here are a few examples of wearable health technology that will play a big part in the future.

Fitness Trackers

These are by far the most popular wearable tech accessories in the game. No matter where you go someone is bound to be wearing a fitness watch that tells them their heart rate at any given moment. Many fitness trackers allow users to sync the accessory to their smartphone to show detailed information about their health. Fitbit and Apple are among the largest companies when it comes to selling fitness trackers that provide accurate data.

ECG Monitor

Although these trackers might look similar to a smartwatch you already have what sets ECG monitors apart is their ability to measure electrocardiograms. The company Withing created a Move ECG product that sends the user’s results to their doctor. From tracking distance walking and even elevation, there’s so much ECG monitors can do.

Blood Pressure Monitor

Three years ago the HeartGuide blood pressure monitor was released by Omron Healthcare. Very similar looking to a watch, the monitor can measure blood pressure and calories burned for all users. HeartGuide can hold up to 100 readings but all of them can be transferred to a mobile app for your tracking history. The best corresponding app is HeartAdvisor since you are able to share your data there with health professionals. This allows users to gain insight into their habits and activities that may be affecting their blood pressure.

Biosensors

These adhesive patches are perfect for people who love to be on the go and get irritated easily by health accessories. Biosensors can track movement, respiratory rates, and temperatures as long as the user is wearing the patch. In the future, it’s expected that many professional athletes wear these under their gear during games. This can give the team’s doctors and health care assistants a better idea of their health while they’re actively in a game.
